Renee Runge received the Commissioners Award of Excellence Award for March, 2014 at the Lancaster County Board of Commissioners meeting today. She was nominated for this award in the category of Productivity.
Renee is an Accounting Specialist in the County Clerk's Office. She was nominated by Bob Walla, City Assistant Purchasing Agent. In the course of her work Renee discovered a discrepancy on an invoice for a product that was on contract but was being charged incorrectly. She contacted Bob and worked with him on a process to identify these types of discrepancies, and notify the department of any discrepancies and the contractor that should be utilized for that particular purchase. Their process takes about 5 minutes each week. Bob wrote "Renee has gone above and beyond the call of duty to provide the Purchasing Department with invoices and payment information".
In nominating Renee, Bob wrote "the goal of the payment review is to ensure that we are good stewards of taxpayer money and to inform County departments of the contracts in place. Renee's hard work, great attitude and desire to save taxpayer money make her deserving of the Commissioners' Award of Excellence".
Larry Hudkins, Chair of the Lancaster County Board of Commissioners, said "We are pleased to recognize Renee for her diligence in serving her fellow County employees and the taxpayers. Her attention to detail and coordination with the Purchasing Department are important. We appreciate her efforts."
The Commissioners Award of Excellence award recognizes employees who consistently provide outstanding service and work that demonstrates exemplary personal commitment to Lancaster County.
