  • County Offices Closed for the Christmas and New Year's Holidays — 12/21

    Lancaster County offices will be closed in observance of Christmas on Friday, December 24, 2010, and will be closed in observance of New Year's Day on Friday, December 31, 2010.

  • Village of Firth Special Bond Election to be Conducted Through The Mail — 12/20

    Lincoln - The Lancaster County Election Commissioner will conduct a Special Mail-in Bond Election for the Village of Firth on Tuesday, January 11, 2011. The special election will be conducted entirely by mail.

  • Commissioner’s Award of Excellence — 12/8

    Jeran Smith has been selected as the Commissioner’s Award of Excellence winner for November 2010. Jeran is a Correctional Officer and began working for the County on July 12, 2004, in the Corrections Department. He was nominated by Sgt. Don Murray and Lt. Barry Heinbigner in the category of Productivity.

  • Hallam Comprehensive Development Planning — 12/6

    The Hallam Planning Commission is requesting community participation involving review of the updated 2035 Comprehensive Plan.

  • County Offices Closed for Thanksgiving Holiday — 11/22

    Lancaster County offices will be closed Thursday and Friday, November 25 and 26, 2010 in observation of the Thanksgiving holiday.

  • Adult Drug Court Awarded $1.3 Million in Federal Grants — 11/19

    Lincoln, Nebraska – The Lancaster County Adult Drug Court is pleased to announce the awarding of two federal grants to enhance and expand services in Lancaster County. The U.S. Department of Justice has awarded a $300,000, three year grant to provide additional staff to expand the current capacity of the Adult Drug Court from 60 to 105. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) awarded a $325,000 per year grant for up to three years to enhance treatment services within the Adult Drug Court. Building on the success of the Matrix Model of substance abuse treatment, the focus of this grant is aimed at enhancing substance abuse and mental health treatment services to the Adult Drug Court participants.

  • "First Call" Now Available For Mobile Phone Use — 11/16

    Lancaster County Emergency Management Director Doug Ahlberg today announced the "First Call" emergency notification system is now able to alert individuals of emergencies through their mobile phones. Previously, "First Call" issued alerts only through land line phones.

  • County Government Day — 11/10

    On Wednesday, November 17, 2010 area high schools will be participating in County Government Day at the County-City Building and Hall of Justice in Lincoln. This event, which is co-sponsored by the American Legion and Lancaster County, provides students with an overview of county government and the justice system. Included is a tour of various courtrooms and the emergency operations center, as well as individual county offices.

  • County Offices Closed November 11, 2010 — 11/9

    Lancaster County offices will be closed Thursday, November 11, 2010 in observation of Veterans Day.

  • Election Commissioner’s Office Open For Additional Hours — 10/25

    Lincoln — Lancaster County Election Commissioner David Shively announced today that the Lancaster County Election Commissioner’s Office will be open additional hours for early/absentee voting for the November 2nd General Election.

  • Voter Registration Deadline is Fri. Oct. 22nd — 10/19

    Lincoln - Lancaster County Election Commissioner David Shively today reminded voters that the last day to register to vote for the November 2nd General Election is Friday, October 22nd. However, voters must register to vote in person. The date to have a mail-in voter registration application form postmarked was Friday, October 15th.

  • Mail-in Voter Registration Deadline is Oct 15th — 10/13

    Lincoln - Lancaster County Election Commissioner David Shively is reminding voters that the deadline for mail-in voter registration is Friday, October 15th in order for the registration to be effective for the November 2nd General Election. Anyone registering to vote for the first time or voters who have moved, changed their name, or want to change their political party affiliation must have the mail-in registration form postmarked no later than Friday, October 15th. In addition, Friday, October 15th is also the deadline to register to vote when applying for a driver's license or at any government agency.

    The Lancaster County Election Commissioner will conduct voter registration at five sites from Tuesday, October 12th through Friday, October 15th. Any Nebraska resident who will be 18 on or before November 2, 2010, has moved, changed his or her name, or would like to change their political party affiliation, may register to vote.     The Lancaster County Election Commissioner will conduct voter registration at five locations on Saturday, October 9th. Any Nebraska resident who will be 18 on or before November 2, 2010, has moved, changed his or her name, or would like to change their political party affiliation, may register to vote.   • Voter Registration Sites for October 5 - October 7th — 10/4

    The Lancaster County Election Commissioner will conduct voter registration at five sites from Tuesday, October 5th through Thursday, October 7th. Any Nebraska resident who will be 18 on or before November 2, 2010, has moved, changed his or her name, or would like to change their political party affiliation, may register to vote.   • Extension hosts USDA Listening Session — 9/15

    The NCR-SARE will conduct three listening sessions in Lincoln and Omaha, NE and Council Bluffs, IA. Lancaster County Extension will host the first session on Thursday, Sept. 23, 5:30-8:30 p.m. at the Lancaster Extension Education Center, 444 Cherrycreek Road, Lincoln. The listening sessions are open to the public, at no cost. Everyone is invited to attend, especially anti-hunger and food justice advocates, educators, non-profit organizations, concerned citizens, government officials, farmers, ranchers, grocers, chefs, workers, food processors and distributors.

  • Malcolm School Bond Election Reminder — 9/10
    Lincoln — Lancaster County Election Commissioner David Shively is reminding voters in the Malcolm Public Schools District who have not yet returned their ballots for the September 14th all-mail special election that the ballots must be received in his office no later than 5:00 p.m. on Election Day, Tuesday, September 14th.

  • Malcolm Public Schools Special Bond Election — 8/23
    The Lincoln — Lancaster County Election Commissioner will conduct a Special Mail-in School Bond Election for the Malcolm Public School District on Tuesday, September 14th. This will be the first time that the Lancaster County Election Commissioner’s office has conducted a special election entirely by mail.
  • Malcolm Voter Registration — 8/11
    The Lincoln — Lancaster County Election Commissioner’s Office will conduct voter registration at Malcolm High School, 10002 NW 112th Street, Malcolm, on Wednesday, August 18th from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. (noon). Any Nebraska resident who will be 18 on or before November 2, 2010, has moved, changed his or her name, or would like to change their political party affiliation, may register to vote at that time.

  • Proposed County Budget for Fiscal Year 2010-2011 — 7/30
    The Lancaster County Board of Commissioners today released the proposed budget for Fiscal Year 2010-2011. The Board will hold a Public Hearing on the budget on Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at 7 PM. The Public Hearing will be held in the County Commissioners Hearing Room, Room 112, on the first floor of the County/City Building located at 555 S. 10th Street in Lincoln. The Board will formally adopt the budget on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at 9:30 AM in a meeting to be held in the County Commissioners Hearing Room.

  • New Lancaster County Web Site — 6/25

    The Lancaster County Board of Commissioners is pleased to announce the new Lancaster County web site will debut on June 25, 2010. This new web site can be found at: lancaster.ne.gov

    The new web site will enable citizens to access information and do business not only with Lancaster County, but also with the City of Lincoln, the State of Nebraska and all area schools.
