    Lincoln, NE - November 21, 2017 - The Lancaster County Board of Commissioners and the Library Board of Trustees for the Lincoln City Libraries are seeking applicants for a County Liaison on the Library Board of Trustees. Applicants must live outside of the City of Lincoln city limits in Lancaster County.

  • Treasurer Electronic Notification System — 11/21

    Lincoln, NE – November 17, 2017 – The Lancaster County Treasurer, Andy Stebbing has announced that his office will begin utilizing an email reminder system to help notify Lancaster County property owners of important tax dates. The system is voluntary and property owners must sign up to receive electronic notifications.

  • Election Commission Recognizes Long-Serving Lancaster County Poll Workers — 11/7

    LINCOLN - Earlier today, during a ceremony at Christ United Methodist Church, the Lancaster County Election Commission recognized seventy-two individuals who have served as an Election Board Worker for twenty-five years or more.

    The Lancaster County Election Commission will honor 72 individuals who have served as an Election Board Worker for twenty-five years or more during a Recognition Ceremony at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 7, 2017.   • Election Commissioner Reminds Norris School District Voters of Deadline — 11/3

    Lincoln - Lancaster County Election Commissioner David Shively reminded Norris School District voters who have not returned their mail-in ballots for the November 14th Special Election that the ballots must be received in the Election Office no later than 5:00 p.m. on Election Day, Tuesday, November 14th.

  • Commissioners Seeking Rural Applicants for Library Board of Trustees — 10/31

    Lincoln, NE - October 23, 2017 - The Lancaster County Board of Commissioners and the Library Board of Trustees for the Lincoln City Libraries are seeking applicants for a County Liaison on the Library Board of Trustees. Applicants must live in the rural part of Lancaster County outside the City of Lincoln's zoning jurisdiction, which extends three miles beyond the city limits.

  • Keno Human Services Prevention Fund Accepting Grant Applications — 10/31

    Lincoln, NE - October 31, 2017- The Lincoln/Lancaster Keno Human Services Prevention Fund is now accepting applications for its 42nd round of grant funding. This round has approximately $170,000 available to non-profit agencies who meet the funding guidelines.

  • Voter Registration Prior to Norris School Bond Special Election — 10/20

    Lincoln - In preparation for the November 14, 2017, Norris School Bond Special Election, the Lancaster County Election Commissioner's Office will conduct voter registration from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 26th, at the U-Stop, 18940 S. 68th St, Hickman.

  • National Voter Registration Day is Sept. 26th — 9/25

    LINCOLN -- Lancaster County Election Commissioner David Shively is joining election officials from around the country in reminding citizens that Tuesday, September 26th is National Voter Registration Day. Shively encourages voters who are not registered to vote or who have moved and need to update their registration to register to vote on Tuesday.

  • County Seeks Feedback On Property Valuation Protest — 9/13
    Lincoln, NE - September 13, 2017 - The Lancaster County Commissioners are seeking feedback about the current property valuation protest process through a public hearing. Citizens are encouraged to attend and share their experiences of the valuation protest process with the Lancaster County Board on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at 4:00 pm in Room 112 at the County-City Building located at 555 S. 10th Street in downtown Lincoln.
  • Lower Debit and Credit Card Service Fees — 9/13
    Lincoln, NE - September 13, 2017 - The Lancaster County Treasurer, Andy Stebbing has announced that effective September 13, 2017 service fees will be lowered for citizens using credit and debit cards.

  • Commissioners Seek Applicants for Infrastructure Finance Task Force — 8/16

    Lincoln, NE - August 10, 2017 - The Lancaster County Board of Commissioners is seeking applications for a newly created Infrastructure Financing Task Force. The group will focus on addressing the current and long-term infrastructure needs in Lancaster County.

    Lincoln, NE - July 31, 2017 - The Lancaster County Board of Equalization will take final action on August 8, 2017 on all property valuations which were protested.

  • Clerk Seeks Final Valuation Protest Documentation — 7/28

    Lincoln, NE - July 27, 2017 - The Lancaster County Clerk and Board of Equalization are reminding property owners involved in current valuation protests that they have until August 4, 2017 to submit any additional documentation they would like considered in their valuation protest.

  • Second Half Property Tax Due — 7/17
    The second half of the Lancaster County real estate and personal property taxes are delinquent on August 1, 2017.

  • Seeking Rural Applicants for Planning Commission — 6/20

    Lincoln, NE - June 20, 2017 - The Lancaster County Board of Commissioners is seeking applications for an opening on the Lincoln-Lancaster County Planning Commission. Current commission member Ken Weber has resigned and a candidate is needed to fill the remainder of his term. Applicants must live in the county but outside the city limits of Lincoln.

  • Property Valuation Protests — 5/31
    Lancaster County Clerk Dan Nolte is reminding citizens that they have until Friday, June 30th to protest the valuation of their property. Properties that had a change in value were notified in writing by the Assessor the first week in June.
  • Working to Care for Pioneer Cemeteries — 5/15

    Lincoln, NE -- May 3, 2017 -- The Lancaster County Weed Control Authority is working with local volunteers to help maintain historic, pioneer cemeteries located in Lancaster County. The Lancaster County Board approved partnering with the various neighbors and volunteers, including Boy Scout Troop 64 in an effort to keep the cemeteries cleared and accessible to visitors. Lincoln Tree Service also donates their services to maintain the trees at the six pioneer cemeteries located in the county.

  • Employee of the Year Award Nathan Atkins — 5/15

    Lincoln, NE -- May 2, 2017 -- The Lancaster County Department of Corrections announces that Nathan Atkins has been awarded the honor of Employee of the Year for 2016. Atkins is a System Programmer for the department and has been employed with Lancaster County since June, 2015. Nathan was nominated for the award by one of his colleagues at the Lancaster County Department of Corrections and was chosen as Employee of the Year.

  • Election Commission to be Open Additional Hours — 4/26

    Lincoln - Lancaster County Election Commissioner David Shively announced today that the Lancaster County Election Commissioner's Office will be open extra hours for early/absentee voting for the May 2nd City General Election.

  • Voter Registration Deadline — 4/19

    Lincoln - Lancaster County Election Commissioner David Shively today reminded voters that the last day to register to vote for the May 2nd Lincoln City General Election is Friday, April 21st. However, voters must register to vote in person. The date to register online or to have a mail-in voter registration application form postmarked was Friday, April 14th.

  • Early Voting for Lincoln City General Election Begins — 4/17

    Lincoln - Lancaster County Election Commissioner David Shively announced today that that early voting for the May 2, 2017, Lincoln City General Election began today, April 17, 2017. Shively reminded voters that state law permits any registered voter to vote an early/absentee ballot. However, voters must request that ballot in writing.

  • County Budget Meetings — 4/14

    The Lancaster County Board of Commissioners will conduct department budget meetings beginning April 20 through June 22, 2017. The meeting schedule can be accessed at http://lancaster.ne.gov/clerk/budget/2017/2017.htm.

    Unless otherwise noted, budget meetings will be held in Room 113 of the County-City Building located at 555 S. 10th Street, Lincoln, NE. All meetings are open to the public.

  • Severe Weather Awareness Week Begins March 27 — 3/14

    Lancaster County Emergency Management Director Jim Davidsaver today urges all residents to create or review their families' severe weather plans as part of Severe Weather Awareness Week, March 27 through 31. Davidsaver also invited the public to attend the free Central Plains Severe Weather Symposium aka: "WeatherFest" from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 1 at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Innovation Campus. WeatherFest is a community event focusing on severe weather-related issues. WeatherFest Website

  • Commissioner's Award of Excellence — 2/28

    The Lancaster County Board of Commissioners is pleased to announce that the recipient of the 2016 Annual Commissioners Award of Excellence is Dan Miller, Assistant Maintenance and Construction Manager for Corrections.

    Officer Colt Lathrop, Corrections Officer for the Lancaster County Department of Corrections, received the Commissioners' Award of Excellence for January 2017. Colt was nominated in the category of Valor by Aaron Cooper.

    Both awards were presented at today's Board meeting.

  • County Offices Closed February 20, 2017 — 2/16

    Lancaster County offices will be closed Monday, February 20, 2017, in observance of President's Day. In addition to February 20, 2017, the Department of Motor Vehicles drive-thru window located at 46th and R Street will also be closed Saturday, February 18, 2017.

  • DMV Opens Drive Thru on Saturdays — 1/30

    Lancaster County Treasurer Andy Stebbing announced that beginning February 4, 2017, the DMV Drive-thru window located at 46th and R Street, will be open Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. for vehicle registrations renewals.

  • Commissioner's Award of Excellence — 1/17

    Jennifer DeBuhr, Administrative Aide for Nebraska Extension in Lancaster County, received the Commissioners' Award of Excellence for December, 2016 at the January 17, 2017 meeting of the Board of Commissioners. Jennifer was nominated in the category of productivity by Vicki Jedlicka. Since 2012, Jennifer has been the go-to person in the extension office and often puts in extra time and effort to support the office staff. She not only works with all office personnel but also supervises support staff, communicates with the County Extension Board and interacts with other County and UNL administrators.

  • County Offices Closed January 16, 2017 — 1/12
    Lancaster County offices will be closed Monday, January 16, 2017, in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
  • Preliminary Valuation Informal Hearings — 1/12
    On January 15, 2017 Lancaster County preliminary real property values for 2017 will be posted on the Lancaster County Assessor's website. Nebraska law gives real property owners the right to meet in person with a representative from the Assessor's Office to discuss how the preliminary value was determined and to provide information to the Assessor relevant to the property value. The Lancaster County Board of Commissioners urges all real property owners in Lancaster County who have any questions about the 2017 preliminary value for their property to take advantage of this process and schedule an informal meeting with a staff appraiser in the Assessor's Office.
