Lancaster County Jail Upgrades to Digital Mail
Lincoln, NE – September 15, 2021 – Beginning September 20, 2021, Lancaster County Department of Corrections will upgrade its incoming inmate mail to a digital format. Personal mail for inmates will now need to be sent to the following address:

Authorized packages, books, and Legal Mail should still be sent to the facility.
Any mail received at the facility after September 20, 2021 will be returned to sender.
Any mail received without an Inmate Number (CFN) clearly written will be returned to sender.Note: Guidelines specified within the following sections override any other information on this site.
Lancaster County Jail to Resume Visits
Lincoln, NE – March 19, 2020 – Beginning June 22, 2020, Lancaster County Department of Corrections will reopen its main lobby and resume public video visits, along with in-person visits for attorneys and other professionals.
Note: Guidelines specified within the following sections override any other information on this site.
- On-site video visitation will return to normal for inmates housed in general population housing areas. Off-site video visitation will continue for inmates housed in general population housing areas.
- Current restrictions on video visitation will remain in effect for newly admitted inmates who are housed in an intake housing unit and for inmates located in an area of the jail facility where they are under medical supervision or monitoring.
- Visitors who are not fully vaccinated are strongly encouraged to wear face masks while in the facility and during their video visit.
- Money may be deposited on an inmate’s account using the kiosk in the public lobby when the lobby area is open.
- Attorneys and professionals may continue scheduling contact visitation online, by logging into their IC Solutions visitor account as before. This will apply to inmates in all housing areas.
- Attorneys and other professionals will still need to contact Programs Director, Brenda Fisher, or her designee, for assistance with scheduling video visitation with inmates in the male and female reception units because of ongoing operational changes in those areas. Brenda, or her designee, will also need to be contacted regarding requested visits of any kind for an inmate in the infirmary area of the jail.
- All attorneys and other professional visitors must check in with the Lobby Officer inside the jail’s main entrance.
- Attorneys and other professional visitors are required to wear a face mask for the duration of the visit with the inmate. The inmate is expected to wear their face mask throughout the visit as well.

The Adult Detention Facility (ADF) at 3801 West O Street opened in July of 2013 and has a current maximum capacity of 786 inmates. The ADF was built in response to an overcrowded inmate population in the previous facilities.
