Pilot Program

Lancaster County is participating in a pilot project with the National Association of Counties (NACo) and Visa Inc. that will evaluate the impact of increased electronic payments in our county. The study will show how many payment transactions are completed using cash or check versus electronic payment methods before, during and after implementation of the pilot project.

Notice

As part of the pilot program, if you are making a property tax payment and use a Visa debit card, your fee will be capped at $5. Please note this is for Visa debit cards only. All other credit cards will still incur a 2.35% e-processing fee. E-checks debited electronically from a checking account have a $1 flat service fee.

All fees charged to use credit cards and e-checks are retained by the payment processing company. The county does not retain any portion of the fees.
