Records Maintained by the County Clerk’s Office

Marriage Records

The County Clerk’s Office only maintains marriage license records for licenses issued in Lancaster County since mid-June 1976. Marriage licenses not issued in Lancaster County should be available from the county in which they were issued or at the Department of Health and Human Services - Vital Records Division.

To obtain a copy of a Lancaster County marriage record, please follow the instructions for submitting a Certified Copy Request Form.

Other Records

The County Clerk's office has numerous County records on file with some dating back to the 1800’s.

Record requests for these types of records may be obtained in one of the following ways:

Records Not Maintained by the County Clerk’s Office

The Lancaster County Clerk’s Office does not maintain records for County Court or District Court, nor does it maintain records for other Lancaster County or City of Lincoln departments. Records should be requested from the appropriate department.

Note: Per Nebraska Revised Statutes, Section 71-649, it is a felony to obtain, possess, use, sell, furnish or attempt to obtain any vital record for purposes of deception.
