The Lancaster County Clerk’s Office can only issue certified copies of the following marriage licenses:
- Licenses issued by Lancaster County between mid-June 1976 to the present
Obtain a Copy
You may request a form for a certified copy of a marriage license via mail or via email. To obtain a certified copy of a marriage license, please fill out the Certified Request Form (PDF) and submit to the Clerk’s Office in person or via mail. For the safety of your information, the Clerk’s Office cannot accept emailed certified copy request forms. You will need to include the following information:
- Both applicants’ full names - including maiden name(s), if applicable
- Date of Marriage
- A copy of your valid photo ID (i.e. unexpired driver’s license or state ID)
- $9 per certified copy (or $0.25 per photocopy)
Important: Please remember to sign the request form and include a copy of your photo ID and payment.
Marriage Licenses Issued Prior to 1976
If you are interested in obtaining a copy of a marriage license issued between the years of 1909 and 1976 (mid-June), please contact the Nebraska Health and Human Services Department - Vital Records Division at 402-471-2871 or online at Vital Records.
For marriage licenses issued prior to 1913, please contact the Nebraska State Historical Society.
