The committee meets 2 to 4 times per year.

Members

The committee consists of five members, nominated by the Lincoln Bar Association Board of Trustees and appointed by the Board of Commissioners. Members are appointed for three year terms.

Overview

This committee assists the Lancaster County Public Defender in designing, implementing and selecting contractors who would provide indigent defense services to assist the district, county, and juvenile court judges in:

  • Providing counsel and advice on other issues relating to indigent defense in Lancaster County
  • Recruiting and developing lists of qualified attorneys to act as assigned counsel in the courts of Lancaster County

The committee also advises the Lancaster County Public Defender, upon request, regarding the appropriate caseload levels and compensation levels, and other matters as requested.
